The Best Views of Barcelona
Barcelona is a wonderful city with a ton to see (and eat!) – what with its modernist architecture, Olympic village, green spaces, historic centre and the newer boroughs like Eixample and Gracia (oh, and not to mention it being a beach town!)
But the question is, where can you see it all? I’m talking about where to experience the best views of Barcelona!
This famous park, designed by Barcelona’s Gaudì offers great views of the city, stretching all the way to the sea. If you look close enough, you can even spot Sagrada Famiglia.
Montjuïc funicular (cable cars)
I am not one to pay for transportation. I like to walk EVERYWHERE while I explore a city and am not one to let my legs have a rest, even after a day of walking up a hill (that basically resembles a mountain). But taking the cable cars up Montjuïc (to the castle) is worth it solely for the panoramic views of Barcelona. I must admit my feet did appreciate the 5 minute rest ;-).
Visit the botanical gardens (in Montjuïc) for views of the Olympic Stadium and of the city. I like this spot because it is not a typical tourist spot for seeking views of the city. Instead, I found it to be a quiet space to walk amongst the vegetation and experienced a unique perspective of the city.
As you can tell, Montjuïc is an important spot when talking about the best views in Barcelona. I suggest taking a full day to make your way up the hill (and then back down again), all the while taking in the unique views of the city at each spot mentioned above.
While I visited Barcelona, I did not make the trip up to Tibidabo but I can only imagine the spectacular views from that mountain, considering the spectacular view from Montjuic (which is only a hill!)
Over to you –
Have you been to Barcelona? Where did you experience the most breathtaking and unique views of the city? Where do you think you can experience the best views of Barcelona?
