Packing Guide: Spring in Europe + FREE Printable Checklist

June 10, 2015,

Traveling from season to season doesn’t always require a modified packing list but in Europe, summer is hot and spring is cool (with a few exceptions). Earlier this week I posted a packing list for summer in Europe but in the springtime, you will need more layers, warmer sweaters and more pants than dresses or skirts. Because of this, I’ve created an updated packing list for Europe in spring. Let me know what you think!

Here is a sample of the list. You can download the complete packing list for FREE below. Sample packing list from Packing Guide: Spring in Europe!

Remember, for most clothing items I did not include amounts – the number of tops, bottoms, etc. depends on how long you will be traveling. Choosing pieces you love and wear at home is key to packing smart and light – bring colours you can mix and match and already love will easily extend your wardrobe and allow you to wear items more than once. As for accessories, the oversized scarf is essential to Europe in spring – warmer days but cooler nights call for an oversized scarf to save the night and keep you warm and cozy while still looking cute and put together! I also included lightweight gloves and hat – especially if you are not used to cool/cold evenings and want to play it safe. Again, as in the summer packing list, I’ve included a couple of blank sections for you to fill out on your own. We are all different and as a result, I encourage modifications to this packing guide! It is a guide, after all.

Now it’s back to you – what are your must items for spring in Europe?

In March 2009 I travelled to Italy and then again in March of 2011 to Greece. I was one of the teachers on a great opportunity for our students with EF Tours and no matter how you think you might be prepared spring in Europe us very unstable. It was rainy and chilly. Even though we were told by EF. I still expected warmer weather. But we didn’t let it get to us…the rain was Italian rain. The mists enveloping us were very suggestive of Ancient Greece. But for all the positive thinking one must be prepared and I appreciate your tips and I look forward to my next trip to Europe in spring…☔️⛅️☀️ And then as if to give us all a goodbye kiss in both Rome and Athens our last days were sunny and warm and just wonderful!

I have never travelled to Europe in the spring, but will surely do in the future…
The crowds must be less the in the dead of summer!

    Great tips.
