The Best Vegan Gelato in Italy
After having travelled several weeks from Eastern to Central and then to Western Europe, the best vegan gelato I had was in… you guessed it: Italy.
Here’s all the best vegan gelato I had in Italy:
Gelateria Marco
Via Malcanton, 16 in Trieste, Italy
This vegan gelato is from Gelateria Marco in beautiful Trieste. The flavours featured here are apple and kiwi, passionfruit and a chocolate and vanilla cookie medley.
Il Giardino di Greta
Via d’Azeglio, 1D in Bologna, Italy
In Bologna, Il Giardino di Greta had some of the best vegan gelato I’ve ever had: perfectly smooth, sweet but not too sweet, with both fruit and gourmet flavours. Greta also serves the best homemade granita I have yet to find – by mixing freshly squeezed fruit juice and crushed ice!
While in Bologna, another great spot to check out is Stefino Bio. Stefino is all organic, and mostly vegan – from gelato to sorbet, to granite.
Il Gelato Amico
Via San Massimo, 34 and Via Principe d’Acaja, 47 in Torino, Italy
Who knew that Italy had an all-vegan gelateria?! Il Gelato Amico in Torino is an all-vegan gelato shop! In addition to sorbets and gelato in cups or cones, you’ll find vegan ice cream sandwiches (like the one pictured), ice cream bars and even cakes. Rejoice!
Visiting Italy elsewhere than Trieste, Bologna or Torino? Here are more incredible spots for vegan gelato throughout Italy:
In Rome:
Gelateria Tropical Ice

In Riccione and Rimini:
Bio Bio Riccione
Gelateria Romana
This gelateria started in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna but can be found throughout Italy – and beyond – now.
Your turn! Where did you find the best vegan gelato in Italy?
What about elsewhere in Europe?
Wow! Your photos and descriptions make me want to snap my fingers, magically appear in any of these beautiful spots, just have a vegan gelato…then snap my fingers and come back home!
Oh I love that idea! But maybe spend an hour or two strolling Italy! 😉
